Where can I install luxury vinyl flooring?
Waterproof luxury vinyl is one of the most durable flooring options available, able to be installed above or below grade in any room of the house - even those that experience a lot of moisture! You can also install vinyl over just about any subfloor type, including concrete, wood or other vinyl!
Note: The subfloor must be smooth and level with no imperfections, as these can show through the vinyl from below.
Are linoleum flooring and luxuy vinyl the same thing?
In short: No! Linoleum and vinyl are both different types of resilient flooring (flooring with give). However, they are each made using completely different materials. Vinyl flooring typically contains vinyl, felt, and fiberglass, while linoleum is often made from natural materials such as linseed oil, cork, tree resin and wood flour.
Is vinyl flooring only available in large sheets?
While vinyl CAN come in large sheets, many products today are either planks or tiles. These increase the realism of the flooring, making them look and feel much more like their real wood or stone tile counterparts. You have plenty of options to express your design creativity with vinyl!
Is vinyl flooring another name for “resilient flooring?”
Sort of - but there's a catch. Resilient flooring refers to many different types of flooring that have a certain amount of elasticity to them. Vinyl is one such type - so all vinyl is resilient, but not all resilient is vinyl! Despite this distinction, the two terms are often used interchangeably. Other types of resilient flooring include cork, rubber and linoleum.
